William MacLeod Raine was an American author, mostly known as the master of Western Fiction. He was born in London in 1871 but moved to the country of his novels, America, when he was just ten years old. A prolific writer, he published over 80 books during his lifetime. Some of them provided the basis for films.
“Daughter of Raasay: A Tale of the '45” was published in 1904 and represents the example of Raine’s earliest novels. This is the romantic story taking place in the English countryside. The action is set in 1745. The Jacobites attempt to restore the throne of England to Bonnie Prince Charles Stuart, a grandson of King James II.
